Black screens in 3d applications with ATI 5870

Hey guys, i've bought my computer at the end of december:

Core i7 920
Asus P6T V2 Deluxe
6 GB DDR3
Gigabyte ATI Radeon 5870
Win7 64 bit

Overall i'm happy with it, the only problem i've been having is that when i start some games or go to full screen in some 3d applications (furmark, opengl & direct3d hello world) the computer goes to a black screen like it's starting, but then the computer freezes, i know this, because it doesn't show anything, the keyboard doesn't respond and if i put music before entering, it suddenly stops, so it must be a freeze. I've installed the latest drivers 10.2 and doesn't solve anything. I'm thinking about RMA, but i don't know if this is a question that is easily resolved without having to wait for a few days to get the new card and not being able to use my computer.

So you bought this pre built or parted it together yourself?

Running stock clocks? Or is it overclocked?

Your power supply would be?

What monitor are you using ? When the screen goes black do you see orange light on your monitor ?

This seems like a res, refresh problem. What res and refresh rate you using ?

That wouldn't kill his music playing though.

More info from OP would be nice, like PSU (make/model/rating on 12V rail).

Did you previously have a Nvidia card in the system?

Is the 5870 overclocked (even factory) at all?

What's your PSU?
