Black screens after escaping through intro movie

My dad's pc...

He loads games and 75% of the time the screen blacks out after the movie intro - he can still hear the game in the background but his only recourse is to reboot and try again, sometimes he tries 5-6 times and it doesn't work. But maybe a day or two later he'll try it and it will work first time, only to fail to work the next day, same as before.

hm, but his vid card is only a geforce 2 64. can't imagine it's set to anything, but i'll tell him this, thanks
