Black screen watching wmp or playing rs

Ok i have a problem when watching videos on windows media player but not vlc my computer screen goes black and have to hold the power button to restart

Also when playing runescape i get some glitchy looking screen every 10 seconds (like another part of a screen is poking through?) then it will go black liek it does with windows media player

Oh i also used to get a blue sound with a buzzing noise when playing bejewelled not a bsod the odd time it is white

how can i fix this?

Specs are:

Sabertooth P67 Motherboard
Intel I5 2500K
Sapphire Radeon HD 6790
4 GB Ram 1600 Mhz
and some coolermaster 500 watt psu
and windows 7 64 bit

Sounds like a graphics adapter issue. Is the system new? I had this kind of issue with a brand new XFX 6850. It wasn't dead on arrival, but close, they exchanged it and everything worked fine. If you have another system or a friends maybe you can try the 6790 in it and see if it does the same.

I don't have friends lol, well the other one i did have was an xfx 6790 i traded for a new sapphire 6790, this one works more than the other card...i can play mw3 on it fine for hours but when i play runescape it messes up also i just got a blue screen with vertical lines and the normal sound of the game i was playing..

Do some system maintenance, upgrading your Drivers for all your devices etc. If necessary uninstall and reinstall what you have. As above i'd say it sounds like a Graphics Adaptor problem but could equally be Sound drivers or something else.

If you're able to play one game without issue it leads me to think the hardware itself is ok.
