Black screen - pls help

While trying to connect my tv to my pc with an HDMI-cabel I got the advice to press the windows button and the p (for projector) in order to change screens. I did so and chose "only projector". My screen turned black - and there is notning to see at my tv either.

I have given up on connecting tv and pc, but would be very grateful if somone could help me get my computer screen to work again. I know very little about computers, so all kinds of advices would be aprecciated!

Fyi, restarting does not work, neither does pressing "windows" and "p" and "->" and "enter".

Make sure your monitor is the only output device attached, press and hold F8 during bootup and boot into Safe Mode and see if you can change the default output.

Thank you so much for your quick reply! It turned out that I did not hold down the windows button long enough while pressing p. But hope to benefit from your advice another time.
