Everyone's installed a game, ran the program, seen the splash screen perhaps, had the screen go black and POOF back to desktop. I know you've all had it, so why does it happen? What causes this? Ive heard that directX could be a problem. Or not up-to-date enough video drivers. But in my case this couldn't be a problem.
I just tried installing an old game, Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (pretty cool game) got it up and running, ran it and no go. In the readme it suggests video card drivers or directX. I need V. 6.0 for DX, and Ive got 9! I know my video card drivers are up to date enough, cause this games like 3 or 4 years old. So whats the problem? Do I need to downgrade to DX6 to get this game to run properly? What can I try?
