Hmmmm......
I wonder why safe mode is all black too though.

When I boot into safe mode, it doesnt load my personal color settings.

my start button is all black also

check out the pic it gives a good description and that black blob in the lower right is the start menu opened, win xp style

One more try.

Safe mode command prompt

Type this in the dos box, replace ed decker with your login name

Type:
documents and settings / ed decker / application data / microsoft / windows / themes <enter>

Type:
custom.theme <enter>

And see if you can change your colors

Id have to agree.

If the screen is pitch black in safe mode including the start button, theres probably more wrong than just a color scheme.

Dont be so horrified though.

Clean installs are always more responsive & stable.

Ok now this is weird:

I reinstalled fresh, at least I thought so, I start up and have to make a login name etc...

But all my programs are still here! 🙂

Oh and its not black anymore

As long as you didnt format your hard drive, youre programs will still be there.
