I have a Sapphire X1900GT. I've been having problems with it for the last few months only to discover I had insufficient power going to it (the card itself is bad too, don't buy it). I upgraded my psu to a Corsair 520HX which supplies more than enough, however I'm still having problems.

When I'm playing SoaSE after a few minutes the screen will just go to black. I've had this problem before and I think its when the GPU crashes and has to recover from overheating. However, I check my ATITool log for the GPU temp, and its only at 65 C when it crashes (idle at 55 C).

I know my video card may have sustained some damage from before, but would it be overheating at 65 C?

Well I have that card and I still love it. the thing you need to do ASAP is ditch the stock cooler for something else, ANY THING else and those temps will come down drastically!

then that will take care of your problem and problem solved.

The stock cooler is such junk, if were talking the single card one. The did make thsi card in 2 different revisions. If you have the 2 slot cooler sounds like your hs needs a new lap of good thermal paste for the big 2 slut cooler is a good one.

Hope that helps, but by no means is it a bad card in general. I have it paired up with a 4000+ 939 cpu and can do most my games at my monitors max res of over 1920x1080 on my crt.
