When my systems boot, after POST I get the XP load screen briefly - then a blank black screen for about 30 seconds - then it pops up with the loading settings screen, and soon there after my desktop. The black screen is normal on my systems. How long have you let it stay that way?

uhmmm... actually it stays black after the logo is shown.. it really stays black and the only way to show whats on screen again is to turn the monitor off 4 awhile, then turn it back on again.

OK - that sounds like you are losing the video signal. What video card and what kind of monitor?

It may pay you to uninstall the monitor in device manager and then power off - power on and let Windows rediscover it.

I had a monitor years ago that would go black when the screen resolution changed. I'd have to cycle the power to get it to come back on. If you can get yourself into windows, try changing your screen resolution and see what the monitor does.
