I saw it last night. It was fine. I think the biggest thing for me is that after so many Marvel movies, this one felt very by-the-numbers.

There was one thing that bothered me with the story as it just didn't make sense...

When the mom, sister, and "the colonizer", went to see the Gorilla dude in the mountains, they presented him with the flower. Based upon the guy's distaste in breaking tradition earlier, I expect him to be outraged at their plan. I mean... right before that, they suggest that T'Challa was murdered, but he retorts back "sounds like he was defeated". However, he just lead them to T'Challa in a bed of snow so they could give it to him instead.

Oh, and the "smart men build bridges, foolish men build barriers" line amused me a bit as you can tell who it was a very obvious dig at. :p

Hoping to see it soon as previews look awesome. I also need something to wash the disappointment of The Last Jedi from my memory.

Saw it at noon today did not bother with 3D or IMAX but the re-done theater had recliners with reserve seating which was cool.

Movie was very good but did feel a bit like the standard Marvel "intro" movie routine. Humor was toned down a few notch's from Ragnarok which was fine by me.

If you like superhero movies I'd say its worth the theater-price.

Oh, and the "smart men build bridges, foolish men build barriers"…

Except, of course, in Wakanda which tries to stay hidden so outsiders don't destroy their way of life. I am curious, did Alanis Morissette sing the theme song for the movie? ;)

Well worth it. I've had a few reservations about marvel movies. Mostly me fearing they are going to T-Rap everything up. I felt it with deadpool and ant-man. In both cases I was wrong. I now faithfully trust you marvel.

Edit: Oh and I'm in love with Okoye (Danai Gurira).

Definitely one of the top Marvel movies, but I also felt it was constrained a bit by having to stick to the formula.

Costumes, use of color and set design were all top notch. As a pseudo-origin story, the world building was very well done. The actors all stood out, but what really impressed me was that that the movie introduced a ton of new characters, and each had a purpose, even those peripheral to the main plot.

Without revealing any plot points, the movie also raises a very difficult question related to slavery and oppression in a very thought provoking way. The “villain” had a lot of depth for a Marvel movie.

However, as is the case with most Marvel movies, it ends with a CGI orgy. I recognize that super heroes have super human powers, but we’ve seen enough CGI battles. The conflict at the center of this movie should have had a less CGI centric resolution. It seems Marvel does this in all their movies. Great setup, cliche ending to setup the next movie.

Winter Soldier, Civil War and Spiderman Homecoming are my favorite of the Marvel movies. Black Panther sits in that group.

I have never been so bored in a movie before. I actually fell asleep. I don't get it. What's so great about this movie?

It was a good movie, although I did have some tiny issues. They kept saying that Wakanda was more technologically advanced, yet we've seen similar or even more advanced tech from the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division (S.H.E.I.L.D.). Hydra is also known for their advanced technology as well.

I thought it was ok, but it felt kinda long.
I wasn't blown away by it but I don't regret seeing it in the theater.

Saw it last night and enjoyed. I don’t generally care for the superhero movie formula but I guess this was a peak example of the form. I agree some of the CGI in battle scenes should have been tuned down which is why I can’t put it on the level of Mad Max Fury Road. The war rhino battle scene were easily best part of the movie.

Saw it yesterday. Thought it was ok. Gave me too much of an angry black man vibe. Didn't like the Straight outta Compton main villain. Thought he could have had some more intelligent/thought provoking dialog. Think Smeagol had the best performance. Set and costume design were great. CG was sub par at times. Read an article talking about CG studios and how it is a race to the bottom to get the work.
Guess what bothered me was the speech at the end talking about how they were going to show the world how to treat each other, but during the movie they label Martin (Don't remember his name) the white guy or the colonizer. What would the reaction be if another marvel movie had the line. Oh another broken black man to fix? I think outsider would have been a better term. It seems to me it was Wakanda vs the World, but they made it Black vs White. Or do i have it all wrong and just need to take it as a superhero movie?

Andy Serkis is an amazingly talented actor and director. The fact that he's never even been nominated for an Academy Award for his work in LOTR or the Planet of the Apes movies is absolutely ridiculous.

You could tell he was having a ton of fun doing this movie, which is always enjoyable to see.

Am I the only one who would be good with no more superhero movies for 10 years or so?
I always find this comment to be amusing.

The last 19 Marvel movies were needed to tell the story and develop the characters needed for the Infinity War movie.
This is unprecedented story and character development for Hollywood.

(Unless you’d rather have movies with less story and character development)

Had never seen anything in 4dx before, so it was at least novel. The movie itself was quite bad. And Tim shouldn't be trying American accents.
