Black monitor screen in Windows

I have an msi x1900xt video card from and I use dual monitors (extended desktop). Everything was working fine for months until I restarted my computer today and the secondary monitor just remained black.

When I first boot my computer both monitors show the the startup as well as how the windows loading screen however once I get into windows the secondary monitor remains black but hardware does not idle. I have verified that the problem is not with the monitor itself as the problem continues to occur with multiple monitors.

I have also restarted a number of times, changed resolutions, reinstalled drivers etc but to no avail.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Can you drag a window from one monitor to the next? Eg, see the window disappear when you drag it over to the blank screen? Im just wondering if the comp is actually recognising the monitor or if its a software problem - is the standby light on?

I have had that happen to my ati video card before. I have had to wipe and reload to get it to work, reinstalling the drivers, and everything else I could think of didn't work at all, for me.
