It's unknowable if the Trump campaign picked it because of the similarity to Nazi symbology or not.

Given the sheer weight of supporting evidence, I think we should have dispensed with 'benefit of the doubt' some time ago. He speaks fluent dog-whistle.

Which explains all the white faces among the marchers how, exactly?

compuwiz is just the sort of guy who, in the 1960s, would have supported or even participated in the murdering of white "carpetbagging" civil rights volunteers from the north, for assisting in "spreading all that racism among the local uppity blacks that were being all racist towards white people."

I mean, they've literally got a Nazi as the primary, longest serving (non-family) brain trust in the admin. To suggest that the campaign doesn't know Nazi imagery when they see it, is hilarious.

Something tells me that Trump is hoping to exploit the new Felon voting rights in FL (do those still exist)? Lots of Aryan Nation meatsticks coming out of those groups, would love to support what is to them, unmistakably, the Nazi candidate.

....and a bit of history: Yes, it is a Nazi symbol. The Nazis used it because it is the Roman battle standard, I think? Hitler considered himself the 3rd Reich--meaning the 3rd Empire of Holy Roman descent--from Caesar, and I think he considered Napoleon the 2nd Empire (because dude officially crowned himself--or was there a 2nd actual Empire than I am missing--I just assumed he considered himself the natural extension of the Hapsburg dynasty, and simply the commander of that 3rd Reich?)

But, as with all things, symbols get replaced through use and their association becomes inexorably linked to new ideas in certain ways. As the swastika really can't be disassociated from the Nazis now, the eagle really can't either.

It is a shame about the swastika. It was a symbol of well-being.

“The word swasti occurs frequently in the Vedas as well as in classical literature, meaning 'health, luck, success, prosperity', and it was commonly used as a greeting.[25][26] The final ka is a common suffix that could have multiple meanings.[27] According to Monier-Williams, a majority of scholars consider it a solar symbol.[25] The sign implies something fortunate, lucky, or auspicious, and it denotes auspiciousness or well-being.[25]

The earliest known use of the word swastika is in Panini's Ashtadhyayi which uses it to explain one of the Sanskrit grammar rules, in the context of a type of identifying mark on a cow's ear.[19] Most scholarship suggests that Panini lived in or before the 4th-century BCE,[28][29] possibly in 6th or 5th century BCE.[30][31]”

Further shows how these things work. Take a centuries old symbol of well-being and turn it into hate. Like anyone can justify that. I bet many here have no idea how the symbol started, just think it shows powa. They have also hijacked the eagle. Next thing you know they will destroy Sponge Bob and the accordion. I have been trying for years to figure out how to get the accordion into violet punk music. It is a calling of mine, just gotta figure this out!

Yeah, they also took Pepe and still don't understand/accept that this is actually what happened:

--4channers start sticking Pepe on "obvious racist comments" to try and "troll the dumb liberal cucks" into thinking that is their new mascot.
--dumb liberal cucks start being triggered by Pepe. "haha! dumb liberal cucks! we told you how stupid you were! hahaha! Pepe isn't really our symbol!"
--4channers and ever-growing number of alt-righters from various groups, storm fronters, start adopting Pepe as "further trolling of dumb liberal cucks"
--start printing Pepe images on flags and T-shirts with racist slogans. Show up at their white power conventions waving Pepe flags.
--Original creator of Pepe, after maybe 2 years of this, officially abandons his ownership of Pepe as he establishes, sadly, that Pepe has been co-opted by racist white supremacists.
--Idiots still think Pepe "is a troll against liberals," despite the fact that common society has already accepted, and established it is an unmistakable symbol of online white supremacicst communities.

...this is exactly how symbols work. There is no amount of "I'm just foolin!" that can continue on in that state, infinitely, while everyone just accepts that you are "just foolin!" and not actually being completely serious about your symbol worship.

These are middle school brains that are trying to "out-smart the liberals," and they simply have no fucking clue who or what they are. People like this are cognitively arrested at about the age of ~12 or so, and you can pretty easily discern them by simply reading their posts and their wholly dishonest attempts to respond to honest, adult discussion.
