black jack in vegas, only game where the odds are in ur favor?

this appears to be the only game in ur favor. I mean if u get black jack u get 1.5 ur bet and if the dealer gets bj he only gets what u bet. On a draw nobody wins or looses. only thing against u is if u bust, u will loose ur bet for sure even if the dealer ends up busting. then there are also some strategies that help ur odds as well. So is black jack really in ur favor or is this also a game that is statistically against you?

blackjack has a heavy dependancy on the last player before the dealer... this dealer needs to look at card patterns... for example... if the dealer deals has a 6 showing... and he's dealt everyone before the last player low cards... the chance of the next card being a high card are pretty high... so this player would stick...

i don't think casinos have ANY games where the odds are in yer favor. kinda defeats the purpose for the casinos doesn't it? if you count cards in blackjack you can turn the odds in yer favor but BARELY. at vegas it's especially hard to count cards cuz most casinos run 6 deck shoes on busy weekends.

i'm pretty sure most games have better odds than 16%. most games give you a 40-50% chance of beating the house. perhaps the 16% is a figure for extended play? certain number of hands? or certain number of hours playing?

edit: actually keno probably gives you lower odds than 40%

You can also beat the rake in poker if you're good. Anything lower than 5-10 Hold'em, the rake is going to kill you, 20-40 or higher, the sharks will get you.

With perfect strategy, and not counting cards, you actually have a 0.4-0.5% advantage.

The cards need to go your way, that is all.

I have been on tables where for 30 hands the dealer shows a 10 for 25-28 hands.

Others where they show 3-6 for many. The whole table generally wins or loses.

no games are ever in your favour (unless your a pro, and have some mad memory skills ) otherwise casinos would go out of business.

the stupid part is (i dont know if its the same everywhere in the world) but at the crown casion in melb. for example, if you become too good at counting the cards and win too much (and hence build a winning reputation), they will simply ban you from entering the casino ever again.

i think there needs to be a law against that. if the casinos are happy to take people money then they should not be able to complain when they have to give a little back.

But like LoB said, even if it's in your favor, it's a VERY small percentage, like 2-3% IF that. So it pretty much is random luck, unless you stick in it for the long haul.

I read in some book a few years ago that Blackjack gives you the best odds of winning and a truly skilled player at the top of his game has a high 40's % chance of winning - which means you can damn near break even, but thats it

They can tell. They will watch you. I'll find the blackjack book I have where it talks about card counting and post some quotes...

actually, you can push the odds to NEAR 51% in your favor with card counting, bet adjusting, and all that fun stuff. there are tons of books on it. also, it's REALLY hard getting caught counting cards because most of the time, they don't care, especially if yer playin' low stakes. you'd have to start pulling off yer shoes and start counting out loud on yer toes or something. jk, but you get the drift.

Reservation casino's with the exception of foxwood's generally majorly suck. Don't go to them because you'll get taken for your money. (worse then state permitted casino's such as harrahs, mandalay bay, etc.)

what the original post forgot to mention is that when you bust, you lose right away, even if the dealer busts afterwards.


if i remember right, the odds for black jack is 55% in favor of the dealer (assuming you know how to play), spanish 21 is 53% in favor of the dealer, and craps has the highest player odds of any table game at 51% in favor of the dealer.

Take it from someone who has been to Vegas a few times...

The only way to win money there is to get real good at poker, and play against the poor saps who come in from bumfork USA to play a few hands of 5 card stud...

There you are not betting against the house, you are betting against people who know even less about cards than you do...and the strategy of bluffing actually comes into play. You cannot bluff at games where you play vs the house.

The only bets in the casino in which it does not have the advantage are the odds bets in craps. everywhere else the casino has the edge. unless you are an amazing counter, which these days is pretty hard, thanks to 6/8 deck shoes, continual shuffling machines, 50% penetration and other rules which give the edge further to the casino. if you do plan on playing blackjack in vegas, go downtown, sure its not as nice as the strip, the the rules/odds are so much better.

Pai Gow is a very safe games played by high rollers cuz money doesn't move around every hand. You place a bet on the table and it's not uncommon that it'll last you 7 hands. The odds are pretty much 50/50 except 1) a copy (rare) goes to the dealer and 2) they take a commission on winnings. It's a fun game to watch because most people who play it are true gamblers. At certain casinos you can turn the odds in yer favor cuz of the house rules and banking, which rotates player to player.

In the long run casinos always win. That's why they stay in business. I've actually done simulations of craps and blackjack in C++ (class project). In the end you always end up at $0.
