Black in America: Silicon Valley

I watched this on CNN. It was quite awful. These "entrepreneurs" were all expecting some type of handout to fund their start-up company. What in the world? If they knew what they were doing, they'd try to get a decent job at an existing company to fund their start-up. No one is just going to give you free money. It makes no sense to start out as a techie in Silicon Valley. That's where all the best of the best are. Makes more sense to start off in the smaller markets.

Blacks and women are extremely under represented in the tech industry. Where I currently work out of the roughly 200 people that work in my office, 3 are women and I have yet to see a black person. I don't think this has to do with the company being racist because there are several Indians, Chinese, etc (in fact, as a white male, I almost feel like I'm in the minority when it comes to race. Quite refreshing really).

I have no clue why there are so few blacks and women in the tech industry. My bet is that it has a lot to do with cultural upbringing.

Using childish attacks because you know you're wrong?

Wrong about what? The people in the article I linked to, who you are referring to, are looking to fund their start-ups. The money they raise isn't free which for some retarded reason you believe is the case.

I'm surprised someone on a tech site doesn't know how tech companies and most companies in general fund their start-ups.

The government has trained and conditioned this demographic to expect a handout yet you expect something different?

Time and again, I have seen you eagerly take the bait and weigh in with your crude, blanket racism in dimwitted threads like these.

I don't know, maybe you were just raised that way, and have ever since lacked the wisdom, intelligence or drive to outgrow your backwater bigotry.

You might be a great guy in many other ways, but this enduring racial ugliness of yours disgusts me.

I hope like hell it hasn't rubbed off on your children.

Ignorance is something you can't overcome
But you've passed it on down and that's something much worse
For a bitter young man... is now taking the torch

I've seen few blacks trying to play a race card on ycombinator, but the community would not budge...Venture capitalists are color blind. If you have a right idea and willing to work hard on it, you can be green, orange, or pink and you WILL get funded...

it's cause and effect....

i mean even if it does come down to the fact, that blacks commit more crimes... so what? why the hell you think? maybe because we delayed there evolution by ENSLAVING THEM.

you were a slave, and you could read???? you got shot... couldnt have smart slaves, that's dangerous.

what's more dangerous is the situation it puts them in in about 100 years after you free them... now that the gene pool is butchered, and the safety net (or lack there of) is blind to these facts.

"We".....I did no such thing.

this is true...

but it's also the reason why they are the farthest behind... so really it's not there fault...

just like it's not americans fault that we are now a declining economy and the "correct" at the time way of thinking/governed countrys, are taking the lead....

the capitalist society, was not the best idea for a government now that we look back at it...hindsight 20/20...

the best form of government, i'm sure, we've yet to see...
