Here is how it goes:
Got a USWorst Intel DSL internal modem and when connected after about 15 minutes of glorious web surfing, the system would bog down REALLY bad. The icons on the desktop would dissappear and leave black shadows where they once were. This basically hard locked the system unless you wanted to go take a shower, make a sandwich and take out the trash, and in that time it MIGHT come out of its siezure for about 3 mouse clicks until it would do it again...
SO...We removed the wonderful DSL modem and told USWorst to shove it where the sun don't shine cuz they wanted to charge
$150 for an external Cisco DSL modem. THe system ran solid for a week without the DSL modem. But, now it is doing the same icon crap and locking like it used to, this time instead of after IE5 it was after Adaptec Easy CD Creator and Outlook 97.....but without the Modem??????
RECOMMENDATIONS??????????
All IDE devices are connected to the 440BX South Bridge because the CMD648 ATA66 controller on the board gave nothing but trouble even after bios and driver updates.(any reccomendations on that would be nice too.)
