Yeah, same here. You don't want to offend the village idiots if you say something that doesn't have any direct relationship to him except his bleeding heart.

I am in shock at the sheer idiocy represented by both African-American members in this story. On the other hand, I can't wait for Dave Chapelle's reenactment.

I will not be a part of allowing such blatant racism as RapidSnail's post. I think he is scum, and I would love to see what would happen if he made that cute little remark in front of a group of black men.

To try to justify that obvious racial slur by bringing up technical definitions is just asinine. Everyone knows why he posted it and what he meant. Apparently some people just aren't willing to take a stand on that topic.

For all of the African American members who read these comments, know that I took them very seriously and am no longer a mod because of this. You don't deserve to see such things when visiting a computer website.

Your Sig line, "People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid " Is comical and hypocritical given your stance on this issue. Oh well take your ball, go home, pout a bit and then spend sometime on what your sig line really means. Hypocrisy and irony at it's best. :disgust:

I'm black. I think you're a drama queen.

You may be right. And you may really be black. Either way, I feel fine about the position I am taking, and if you think I'm a drama queen, I can live with that.

Can I no longer use a spade to dig in my yard?

If a small fury animal with black fur over its eyes gets into my garbage can I call it a 'my excellent compatriot?

If I see the spirit of a dead relative can I call it a spook?

Can a secondary device be called a Slave?

EDIT: maybe we should not use the term "black" anymore. How about the "the color which won't be named" ala Harry Potter?

I just read the response you are referring to, I agree that it's over the top.

I also say kudos for you for taking a position and sticking to it even if it cost you your position on the boards.

Oh please, RapidSnail's post drove right to the spirit of the "hole" issue in this thread. If some people weren't in such a rush to get offended they might see that.

I find your sig (below) to be quite ironic considering. You now stand against freedom of speech because you choose to avoid freedom of thought - and interpretation.

People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid - Kierkegaard

This is just dead wrong. Context is everything.

I agree with everyone's assessment of the original story. It was a silly accusation of racism where racism didn't exist, and it is highly likely that the accuser is simply very ignorant.

But the difference is RapidSnail is intentionally using words that sound like n****r, to convey the message without using the word. There is no way in hell that we was using those words for the sole purpose of making the literal statement that they convey.

You can hide behind the dictionary all day long. You are willfully ignoring the situation. He did NOT use those words because of the message they convey through their literal meaning. He used those words because they SOUND LIKE n****r. It is the same as him calling the people in the story "n****rs".

Don't dare try to tell me that it is the same thing. It is NOT the same thing. You think this is a matter of ignorance to the literal meanings of the words niggardly, niggler, and nigritude. That is not the relevant point. You are turning a blind eye to the relevant point.

STFU baby.

It didn't "cost him his position"; he wasn't kicked out, he resigned. He could have said he disagreed with snail's remark and stayed a mod.

George Carlin would have had a field day with this.

I get that he resigned. He resigned over his principals and that "cost" was his position.

Try not to read too much into what I wrote, it's a very simple statement.

Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price is sticking to his comments that the term "black hole," which a colleague used, is racist.Price also says language such as "angel food cake" and "devil's food cake" are also racially insensitive.

Alright, lets say black is taboo. According to the Judge's logic, ("white hole"), everything black should be white. So that means black people are now white, and white people are now black; which means that he is now a white supremacist.

I think I figure out the problem. He thinks the colour Black is named after his people. Silly commish, black people are called black because their skin tone resembles the colour black, not the other way around.

You mean black people do not have a copyright on the word 'black'?
