No tech items/components this year for me, as pricing/sales sucked IMO.

The only purchase for me was a Soundwave G1 statue that I had been eyeing for about 6 months, as they had a sitewide 10% off code, and with that it's been the lowest price it has been for this toy.

I noticed that Ibuypower had an interesting combination of deals on Black Friday. For a brief moment, they had:

A free 512 GB Intel SSD with every order
A free upgrade from 16 to 32 GB of memory
$50 off on the GeForce 2060 Super
$50 off on the Ryzen 7 3700X
AND a 5% discount on the entire order if you used a coupon code. For that brief moment, I could buy a pretty sweet mid-range pre-built gaming PC for the same price as it would cost me to buy the parts separately.

Their site crashed under the traffic, but I might have got an order in. I have a confirmation number, anyway... we'll see :)

On Friday I got a free iPhone SE 64GB (Red) from Xfinity Mobile for adding another line to my Mobile account. Technically, this deal started on the 25th I think but I got it on Friday so it was a Black Friday deal to me. :)

Robot vacuum for a gift and a tv for my gf. Couple of games for cheap. No real money for expensive stuff this year.

I grabbed a bunch of winter clothes, 2 wireless mice, wireless keyboard, 14TB external HDD, and a Sony X800M2 bluray player. I'll grab a Simplicity S65 cordless vac if it drops another $30 to previous low. Thinking about some power bricks (Anker and Ravpower), but need to research more.

Wasn't planning to buy anything, but got email from Lenovo this morning, checked out their BF deals and I am going to return the Lenovo Thinkpad P1 Gen 3 that's coming in 3 days, and instead ordered this, which is actually better for me (has Win10 Pro instead of Home, and I don't need the OPAL 256GB M.2 or the v-pro wifi of the one I ordered Nov. 6).

I ordered this morning, it's in stock ATM, $1259.00, free shipping.

Windows 10 Pro 64
10th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-10750H Processor (2.60 GHz, up to 5.00 GHz with Turbo Boost, 6 Cores, 12 Threads, 12 MB Cache)
15.6" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS, anti-glare, 300 nits
8 GB DDR4 2933MHz (I already have 2x 16GB for it)
NVIDIA® Quadro® T1000 with Max-Q 4GB
256 GB PCIe SSD (I already have a Samsung 1TB M.2 to add)
Intel® Wi-Fi 6™ AX201 802.11AX (2 x 2) & Bluetooth® 5.1
Fingerprint reader
SD card slot
2 Thunderbolt 3 ports
2 USB-A ports
HDMI port
Headphone/microphone jack
Proprietary ethernet port

Weight: 3.75lb

I already have a P1 Gen 1. This price is quite a bit better than I've seen anywhere. I've always loved Thinkpad keyboards.

Didn't grab much... 1TB SN750 for $116 + USB-C adapter; a few pieces of heavily-discounted software.

Been trying to get a coral orange 15.6" ASUS VivoBook w/ a Ryzen CPU for awhile, for a dedicated Ubuntu laptop, but I never saw one come up new... so I ended up buying one used but like new.

Samsung Q90T 55" OLED 4K TV for the livingroom, the newest model was 10% off and my current TV is 6 years old (albeit the Samsung 6-series which is still awesome)

That's a fairly decent deal, on what is supposed to be decent AIB model of that GPU.

I just paid $450 for a RX 5700 DD (XFX) model, BNIB from XFX direct on ebay, that's the non-XT model, with all of it's warts (the DD has had some cooling issues).

I also paid $420 ea., @ BestBuy on ebay, for a pair of "XFX Raw II RX 5700XT" cards. I only got the first XFX because these were OOS at the time, then they went back in-stock, so I had to have a pair.

Looking at $2-3/day for each card, should be paid off in maybe 2/3 of a year.

Well, for right now it's a decent deal. I don't think a 5700XT of any kind is worth more than $300USD with the 3060ti out there, but it's what I could get, and it certainly does the job at 1440p/75Hz/DCS World. As I detailed in our other correspondence, I'm still looking into the mining thing. I just have a tough time blasting my brand new card with high fan speeds and heat right off the bat ;) I know there are settings to adjust...still not ready!

Fixed that for you.

Sadly, the 3060 ti is not quite yet available in large qtys. world-wide @ MSRP. Once it is, I expect prices on whatever remaining "new stock" of RX 5700(XT) cards to drop appropriately. As the 3060ti is apparently higher-performance AND higher-efficiency for mining. And of course, faster for gaming, too, than an RX 5700XT.

But, this is still "2020 - the year of irrationality", so IDK.

My TV broken down, finally after almost 14 years of service. Gone to Walmart and got the Sony X750H

Picture is amazing.. but when i played some of my DVDs, or mkv movies from NAS, I noticed there was judder with some scenes.

Only then i saw the test they done with the same model at https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x750h.

oh well, wife said she is good and didn't see any judder, and I been playing around with the motion setting.. oh well, might just keep it as she was not too happy that the old TV broke.

Yah, availability is the reason I bought the 5700XT. I just assume everyone knows that mentioning a 'new' GPU implies that we're talking about next year ;) As I've said before, I'll wait until fall 2021 if I feel like upgrading. By then the 30XXti cards and whatever AMD has left to release will be out, should be at MSRP, and will actually be available. The reviews of all the AIB''s will be out too, and the drivers should be pretty mature. Who knows, AMD may even have an answer for DLSS/RT by then. My son is already eyeing up my 5700XT though...

I bought nothing. Literally nothing.

I have lots of things I'd like, so I bookmark and watch them for months on end. Then when sales come around, its disappointing to see the price is the same it was in the summer or something, without a sale. Maybe this year is an outlier, but there wasn't any compelling classic Black Friday sales that I saw that took my interest. Instead, everything is overpriced and out of stock.

Very best,

Grabbed a 3D printer, as I've wanted one for a while. Got the Creality Ender 3 v2 for a good price during cyber week, so not quite a Black Friday deal. Test prints with the included filament have turned out decent so far; just waiting for my bigger spools of filament to show up so I can try some bigger prints and learn more about tweaking/fine tuning the settings to improve print quality.

I took Hp zBook with a graphic card in it, I was too happy because on that day it was my need, and got it within my budget.

Had a list of shit I was ready to buy but of course, my credit union put a hold on over half the $$$ from the check I deposited and it won't be released until the 30th, which is probably a good thing here lol. Sucks being broke around Black Friday, but at least I did have some $$ to spend, I used all but $20 of what they released

I got:
Razer Blackshark v2 Pro headphones
Razer Orochi v2 White Edition
Corsair K65 Mini

The other 2 things I planned to get, Corsair 4000x RGB & Corsair iCUE h100i were barely even marked down so no real loss I guess
