Black EPS -> PS = Dark Gray?

when i veiw these eps files in a vector art program they are black - r,g,b=0,0,0, c,m,y,k=0,0,0,100, but when i bring some of them into ps either by place or paste, they are dark gray~rgb=51,51,51. any ideas why? i can't figure out why it is only some and not all.....help...they need to be black
