Black dress pants that don't lose color?

I usually wear Dockers dress pants, but i tend to stay away from black ones, because they lose color fairly easily. Even if before washing them for the first time, you can already see the knee area becoming lighter than the rest after a few days. Which means cleaning isn't as big of an issue as finding a pair of black dress pants that don't lose color from simply being worn. So where do i find these? I have no problem dry cleaning them every time and all, just as long as they look good (and stay that way) and don't cost a fortune.

I wear charcoal colored pants. How do you wash the pants? Don't use hot. If you really care, you can handwash.

Microfiber I believe holds the color longest. You can try to dry the pants inside since I believe the dryer is what kills the color and not the washer...

Get a nice pair of wool pants (hopefully not the crappy scratchy kind they sell at banana republic or a cheap poly blend). Good wool trousers feel and look much better than the alternatives, and really, khakis and chinos, especially Dockers, are too casual to be used as dress pants anyways.

You must be washing them on FULL UP CLOTH DESTROYING setting if they're losing color in the knees after a few days. I've had a pair of black Dockers for a couple years and while they've faded a bit, they've faded easily.

Unless...do you spend a lot of time on your knees?

You're not listening. My last pair faded in the knee area BEFORE I WASHED IT FOR THE FIRST TIME. That's what really worries me. Because i can always dryclean from now on, but if they fade from simply being worn, there's nothing i can do.

Ah, I misread that. Well if you're not the type to put a lot of wear on your pants you may still want to consider wool. If you are, maybe you should look into some synthetic fabric pants (e.g. poly) and see how that works. Unfortunately my guess is that most pairs of black cotton pants, save perhaps the more absurdly expensive brands, will start fading eventually after washing. Maybe just stock up on a bunch of pairs at the next big sale and go through them quickly one by one? :)

Maybe a bad batch of dye?
I have Dockers that still are holding color.
<need to wash cold and dry PermPress if machine washing. Also washing inside out is a good idea, I have heard. I do that with sweat shirts and they are holding up well.
