The two from the WTC buildings will be the ultimate test of how strong those boxes are. I'd say they'll recover the one from the downed plane first, less mess there.

Pity they can't make entire planes out of the same stuff those boxes are made from.

Imagine if the airplanes would be indestructable(sp?)......it would even be a bigger risk...

Not really, if you could have indestuctable planes, then indestructable buildings would be easy. So I guess terrorists would just have to bounce the planes off the NY skyline until they run out of fuel.

On chn 11 they speculated that the terr may have pulled the breaker from the blackbox. The breaker is the power supply for the box, and would render the black box useless if pulled.

*Please correct if Im wrong about any of the above, I pulled all the info from the news.

really hope they didnt, so at least we can find out what happened during the final moments. This would most likely help he investigation of exactly who is responsible.

Now that I would like to see...

Sigh...

You know why it won't happen? The plane would be too heavy to take off... :)

You can shut off a cockpit voice recorder, but not a "blackbox" data recorder as it is hard wired into the planes electrical system. You would have to power down the whole aircraft for that.
Some data recorders also have a pickup for cockpit vioce as also radio transmissions, but these can be switched out.
