I was wondering if there is any software out there that will work like a black box and unscabble all the channels when you connect your cable to a coax video in. Is there such thing?

Discussions of this sort are usually frowned on by the folks that run this Site.

well, i get all the channels anyways.

the thing is, i want to record some tv shows onto my computer, but in order to do that i need a cable box connceted to the cable coax and the computer, so i need to buy a new box, which i dont want to do. The software will save me from doing so. Its all legal.

Do you need a cable box, or can you just split the signal coming out of the box going to your TV, which you can then attach to the computer? As long as you use high quality splitters and RG6, you shouldn't have signal loss.

But he wants to, I guess, record a TV show and watch something else on TV. Can't do that with one cable box.
If you pay for all the channels, though, getting another cable box should not be that expensive.

All you will be able to find is sketchy webpages that want money for unclear help/software/hardware.

well, i personally am not paying for the channels, my parents are. I really dont want to have a cable box hanging from the back of my comp, i feel that software would be a lot easier. Is tehre is one or is there not one, cause if there isnt i will have to get another box which i really dont want to do.

There are a few available if you look hard enough, although most of them support only PAL. (which won't help you much unless you're in Europe) The only NTSC decoders I've seen have been very picky about which tuner chipsets they choose to support. Good luck in finding a working solution, in the day of my Voodoo3 3500, I could not find any that worked for the phillips tuner.
