the big TV in our commons was set to stretch only the sides of the image to fill the screen.

Watching sports games, any time someone was directly facing the camera so their head and shoulder filled the screen . . they were huge. I mean, the TV showed these guys with shoulders that were just huge. These people looked like they could make a lineman run screaming . . . and when they put linemen on the screen it was just ludicrous.
