I did a clean install of XP Pro and I'm getting a black background at my login screen, with the classic login box, rather than the nice blue background with the icon login box. What's up with that?
If I remember correctly, go to control panel, user accounts, and ther eis an option to not use the welcome screen. I think that reverts it back to the login box.

Yeah, it wouldn't let me do that; something was blocking it. After some googling, I found out that the latest driver that I had installed for my video card had an option that I had checked (authenticate before login) that made Windows have the classic gray login box with a black background. Simply deleting the "ginaDLL" entry in the registry fixed it. I decided I liked it tho and put it back in lol.
