Haven't seen any reviews just yet, but I've only checked a few places.

I hope BW2 is good, I had such high hopes for BW1 and ended up being disappointed. I even went back to try and play it again recently, to see what changes the various patches had made, but I couldn't find my CD key. :(

Review at IGN

8.8, not too shabby.

6/10 on Eurogamer... not too good.

If you're going to include RTS ideas such as the armies, then the sad fact is that these features need to be as good as a straight RTS. Raising your own Creature needs to be as agile and believable as Nintendogs. Building working towns needs to compare to Sim City. Because as unfair as that seems, that's where our expectations begin when we recognise such features in a game. Can't do that? Then make a game you can. Lionhead simply wasn't able to make this one.

I bought the first B&W and was highly disappointed after reading the rave reviews. Such a boring, weird game.

Hah, that comment from eurogamer.net is exactly what I thought about B&W... so if thery're saying the same thing about this one then I'll definitely pass.

As unfair as it seems? That is unfair. I hate when a game is released and they give it a low score because it doesn't compare to others. Well guess what? It's a completely new type of game. It doesn't have to have an RTS feel, it doesn't have to have a Nintendogs feel, it doesn't have to have a Sim City feel.

Eurogamer looked at the game completely wrong, and thus IMO misjudged the game wrong one what they thought the game should be like, not on what the game is in it's current state. If they have the perfect vision for a game, they should make one themselves.

I think Eurogamer probably hit the nail on the head. If you have these type of elements, then they should work, and work somewhat as we're accustomed to using them. Just because it's B&W doesn't mean it gets a pass on gameplay. The original B&W was fun and unique for about 30 minutes. After that, the novelty wore off quickly and the most fun I could get out of the game was torturing my villagers. I'll pass on B&W 2.

But my point is, why should everyone make games to play like we're "accustomed" to? Then everyone should be doing the Madden bitch, that every game is the same. I just don't think you review a game for what isn't there, you review for what is. If you give it a low score, that should mean that what's there doesn't work well within the game, not because it doesn't have some feature of another game released before it. If it's a good score, it means the game in it's present state is fantastic, not because it included features of genres before it.

I hope you see my point, but you are entitled to your opinion. :)

3.5 / 5

Now the superstar creators have teamed up with alums from the benchmark RTS StarCraft to bring the franchise into a new realm by structuring the game around economic and militaristic warfare. The result is vastly more playable, but still falls short of the series' graphical capabilities and ideological potential.

Black & White 2 is a vast improvement over its predecessor and offers dazzling visuals, but it falls short of a complete RTS or city-building experience.

Seems the only way I am going to get a good unbiased review of this game is to buy a copy myself and play it.

Summary of reviews: Black and White 2 is a lot like Black and White 1, it shares some of the same faults but at the same time is much larger on scale and much less of a gimmick than the first one was.

I plan to buy it in a bit, just got a whole bunch of new games so I won't be getting it right away. I'd love to do the reviewing but I'm pretty sure my review would be just as positive as IGN's (It's just in my nature).

is it just as monotonous as part 1 was after the 3rd level?

I liked the first one a lot for the first few levels, then Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz........

I also hated how I would have a creature doing so good, then 20 minutes later he's eating my villagers and poopin all the time.

Yeah, that was probably the most disappointing game I've ever bought. What a clunker. I played it for about an hour, and hated it.

btw, everyone patch the game before you start, old save games wont work with the new patch for some dumb reason and without the patch you have no chance of skipping the tutorials

and tips...
look for tiger unlock :p
