Anyone every try a Black Velvet? I'd like to know how it is. I believe it's Guinness and cider (Strongbow?)

I don't care for it much. Too much of a difference between the bitterness of Guinness and the sweetness/tart of cider.

I was at a bar last week where the bartender could not make a black and tan to save her life. She kept trying to layer the Bass over the Guinness. 😀 On her third try she realized the error in her ways, and gave me the pint on the house.😀

:Q

I wouldn't return to a bar that doesn't know how to do that. Ever.

It's actually Guinness and champaign. It's pretty good but the bubbly gives me headaches.

Ahhh yes. Some places do get it confused though. I've seen black velvet ordered and it is Guinness and cider.

A Snake Bite is generally cider and Guinness.

Yeah, it was pretty bad. My first time at that particular bar. I would have stopped her after the first bad pour, but I wanted to see if she would figure it out so I wouldn't have to embarass her.
