Was looking for a good deal on cordless drills for the past few weeks and I found this. (Target B&M, so YMMV)

Seems like a good deal. I think i can assume this is pretty much a drill with some limited other fuctionalitiy but for ~$50 I think it'll do quite well for most people. I love 18V cordless drills though, Black and Decker has a bunch of rebates going on, also be sure to check out the 18 volt firestorm for $99.99 AR at amazon.

I forgot to add that I aslo saw a 14.4V one (Model #FSD142K-2) for $79.99. There's a $10 rebate for it.

I think the 14.4V is better for those who need more power because it has 2 gears (high speed/high torque)

Anyone have opinions of what cordless drill is good? I'm not into heavy professional work, but would want to get a actual tool and not a toy :)

I'm thinking of some Craftsman drills from Sears.... are they better than B&D?

if you want the best, go dewalt, overkill for amatuers though :)

This drill looks cool with all the options, saying goes however, "Jack of all trades, master of none"

Yeah, I know Makita makes good tools too, but as i said, I'm just an amatuer :)

Paying $100+ for a drill just for simple drilling (20-30 times a year) just doesn't make sense :D

I have that combo, and I also have the 14.4v Firestorm with the dual speed settings, and love both. I've never had a single problem with the Firestorm series, and they have a good solid feel.

Highly Recommended (from a home user that is)

I picked up a 24v Craftsman Limited Edition (with bag, light, two batteries, some bits and charger) for $99 a couple of weeks ago. Salesguy told me that they dropped the price on it, not a sale price. YMMV.

HSN.com has a 18 volt Coleman drill for 40 bucks, minus $25 coupon, comes out to $15 + about $8 shipping -- A Coleman drill isn't top of the line, but for my use and most people here, its probably decent for odd jobs around the house -- for under 25 bucks shipped.

Yeah, I ordered that one, but they cancelled it. Anyone actually received that drill? They said it was "mass cancelled"... WTF...

Are you sure about that? TWENTY FOUR Volt?

They sell the drill in case with 2 batteries for $240, why on earth would they sell it with a light (I have yet to see a 24V light) at basically a loss?

IF it was 24V, can you scan the receipt? I could use a couple more battery packs, and this would be cheaper than buying them alone.

Ditto here on information on this deal. Craftsman are good solid rechargable drills, and I'd jump on this like an intern on a cigar!
I have a Bosch at home that while it still works well, is slowly dying. Please let me know, PM or email. TIA!

umm, the extent of my home improvements are hanging pictures and organizer systems (like closet or pantry). Is 12V enough juice to drive several screws into the wall studs?
thanks

OK, I went to Sears today, and they have an EIGHTEEN volt drill/light/bag/2battery combo for $99, but no such thing exists in 24V.

poonjahb - I think you need to check your receipt and box a bit more carefully. There is a ton of difference in power and cost between TWENTY FOUR and EIGHTEEN volt systems.

Not that the 18V isn't a bad price - I'll probably pick one up tomorrow, as I have the 18V drill, circular saw, and reciprocating saw, so getting a light, spare charger, and 2 new batteries for them, plus a backup drill, for $89 (Craftsman club 10% off through 5/17) is well worth it, with the battery packs still costing about $50 each.
