yeah no need to take a chance on a no-namer like mad dog when you can get a well known good quality one(NEC2500a) for the same price without rebates.

i've heard many bad experiences with maddog's cdrw drives. not quite sure how their dvdrw drives are doing, but i'd wouldn't touch it unless it was FAR.

We have a Pacific Digital 8x at Staples for $99.94 after $30 MIR. Not one of the best brands, but certainly not one of the worst.

i finally gave up after searchin all the OM for a non BTC Pacific Digital (for past 2 wks)... just bought the nec 2500a from newegg.. a great deal for me seeing as i never had much luck with rebates anyway (karma?? )

Im picking up one of those Black NEC ones now. I have a NEC-1300A and it is the BEST. I am definitly a fan of NEC. (Since most drives out there are NEC's anyway) The five star rating on NewEgg doesn't hurt either.

I just got one of those NEC's from Newegg. It kinda sucked that it didn't come with any software. I had to Ahem... "aquire" Nero 6 and Powerdvd. It is an awesome drive. No coasters after 20 burns.
