I have a Black 2005 Mustang GT and the Air conditioning does not seem to be up to par. The problem is that it does not cool the car fast enough and stays quite warm. I bought this car in September so this is my first summer with the car so I cannot say if over time that the AC lost it power.

The things I notice is when the car is in the sun it blows out warmer air in the shade it seems better but still not grate. Also I heard a clicking nose when the AC is on, not sure if this is normal. The 2 vents on the driver side blow warmer air then the 2 on the passenger. If I close the 2 on the driver side then the warm air blows out with the other 2. I want to know is this normal for mustangs and since I have black car it is just going to be much hotter?

The A/C shouldn't be affected by the color of the car much. It may take it a little longer to cool down, but it should still get cold in there.

I hear it is expensive to recharge the AC and don't want to get it recharged and not have it really do much. Being black might have a lot do with it. I wish it was like my 2001 Honda accord now that mother blows cold air. Want to hear from other black mustang owners.

Its not expensive to have it recharged. It can be expensive to fix the leak depending on where it is. Go have it checked and if it needs charged they will do so and add a die to the system so they can find the leak.

Black has nothing to do with it. I have a black Tundra and that thing is like a meat locker when I crank the AC.

my black civic gets hot as hell and it takes ~10 minutes for the AC to cool it down. does yours never get cold?

I had a black on black 2006 Mustang GT for a while and the A/C was ice cold. Something is definitely wrong if yours isn't cooling well enough for you.

Can you get a pressure gauge and check the line pressure readings for the low side?

The clicking sound makes me think blend door. We had the blend door go out in our Expedition, but it was for the rear AC unit. Much easier to get to obviously. It made a clicking noise because the door was always stuck in the wrong position and thus the motor kept trying to push it back in place but the plastic gears were stripped (like a window motor). The airflow was weaker (because it was trying to put air through both the upper and lower vents). Cost us $60 to buy a replacement online and install it ourselves. Obviously the blend door in the main AC system of a mustang is going to be more difficult.

Remote start with auto climate control is nice.

Warm car for you in the winter with already defrosted windows and mirrors, cool car for you in the summer. :D

They make some coolant cans with a red dye that helps to detect leaks. It's not perfect, but it'll show you anything glaringly obvious.

Recharging my 2003 Malibu's R134a cost me less than $20. It was a bit of a pain in the ass since the port to charge it was behind the engine (close to the plugs, I burned myself on the head / exhaust a couple of times), but once you get the hose on it, you can walk away for a while. Too bad it all leaked back out. :p

Make sure it has a full charge.

BUT: A black car is definitely slower to cool and the A/C works harder if you live in a hot climate. I have a black Tahoe, and the wife used to have an identical Tahoe, that was green. Her A/C would be cooling before you backed all the way out of the driveway, and you'd have to be going down the street before mine would. Been like that since it was new. It cooled great once you were traveling, but until it cooled the whole car down, it sucked.

edit: But ultimately, even a black car should cool as well as a lighter color, just won't do it as fast.

I'll have it looked at and see if it is low and/or has a leak. I don't know enough to monkey with it if it is the blend door.
