You all should give this stuff a shot. I accidentally started listening to her Greatest Hits album the other day, and I can't stop listening to it. It's been weeks now, and unlike when I first listened to it and there were like two songs I liked, I now LOVE EVERY song. She is just a phenomenal musician. Her music kind of draws a picture, so the fact that - while I can understand her lyrics, if I listen enough - I have no idea what she's talking about doesn't bother me. Kind of like Maynard from Tool; he says that the lyrics are really unimportant, they're just taking you places with the music and putting lyrics in because when you're singing, you have to say something (humming sounds stupid).

It's a little techno, but the bottom line is that the beats are amazing, and her screeching voice somehow offsets the beautiful rhythm of her music perfectly. I would try to recommend songs, but as I said, as I got to listening to the whole album, I found I liked everything. I might suggest "All is Full of Love," "Joga," "Army of Me," and "Pagan Poetry," but as I listen more and more, "Isobel" and "Hidden Place" are fast becoming my favorites.

Mainly just started the thread to throw something out there many probably haven't tried, and to see how many other Bjork fans there are on the board.

Uh oh... sarcasm to start out the thread. This doesn't look good.

Look, I know she's not a small artist, but how many people do you know that LISTEN to her music. My friends all groaned and dismissed her when I mentioned her. They know who she is, but don't give her a chance.

If you have a chance check out the DVD-Audio or SACD version of Vespertine, might be hard to find, but that album sounds incredible in 5.1 surround sound. If you don't have a DVD-Audio or SACD player, the DVD-Audio disc has a Dolby Digital track which allows any DVD player to play the 5.1 mix, just reduced quality (though you probably wouldn't notice it).

Also get the Volumen video collection.

Hyperballad is my favorite song of hers.

😕 WTH? No...she's not one of those bull-*** female(?) singers. She's this little, skinny, pale white, petite little freakazoid. I find her attractive...at leat the pics I've seen. Sexy, in a mental kind of way. Some of her tunes are actually pretty cool.

Post was great, and there are scattered bits of gold in the other CDs. Even when I don't like what she's doing I have to admire her originality.

:music: it's oh so quiet :music:

My favorite track is Play Dead. Funny how it's only on her greatest hits CD but not on any other albums. I would kill to have a copy of that track in live. I also like Oceania track from the Medúlla album.

Funny, I was listening to that right as I read this post.

She peaked at homogenic imo. A few good songs since but most these days either sound like traffic jams during rush hour or sonatas for dead people.

I love her Debut, Post, and Homogenic albums and loathe Telegram. Vespertine has hidden place but little else. Her best album imo is Gling Glo where she sings jazz, and otherwise her best work in general imo is with the Sugarcubes. She had much more freedom to have fun back then, and those albums are some of my most often listened to music.

I just wish she'd lighten up and have some fun in her music again.
