Bizarre trade / deal gone bad

I received payment for an item and sent the item to Canada via FedEx ground the next morning, at the recommendation of my mail guy. Also for my protection I think I chose FedEx version of signature or delivery confirmation.

The recipient wanted UPS, but by the way his punctuation was used, it was unclear to me. I thought he meant UPS or whatever fits my budget. Here is the exact line

"shipped ups (anything that fits your budget and is not too slow. usually it takes 2-4 buisness days)"

Regardless, that is not the issue. The item was sent and attempted delivery twice. Turns out the address and phone number are good, but the dude lied about his name. He is from an ethnic background and chose a neutral name. A very American or common Canadian name, different first and last name (from his own).

The item attempted delivery twice, and FedEx is looking for "Mark Collins."

I sent the item in good faith to "Mark Collins." I know that I did not commit fraud, but maybe? Either way I am saving our private messages. Look at my heat, I get the item to people. I ever send first if necessary.

I will help him get the package, but realistically I think I am done with this transaction.

What say you? If a mod wants full names and such, I can provide it.

Call fedex and switch the names. Or have him leave a note on this door to leave it on the porch signed Mark Collins.

Doesn't seem like a big deal. Don't make it out to be.

WTF are you sending the guy that he felt he had to use a false name? Marking this thread for when you post a follow up about the armed standoff between yourself and the authorities which is going to ensue shortly.

He didn't make it clear that he definately wanted UPS, his statement is vague. It's his fault for using a false name. You are done.

umm, i would say he wanted it shipped ups but on a ups shipping method within your budget, like 3-5 day instead of 2 day or something like that. seems pretty clear to me

he still could have been more clear about the shipping. i know that isnt the issue really, but his lack of communication caused your miscommunication. not your fault.

whats the problem? Re-ship using his legal name. IMO He should cover that expense since it was his screw up.

Taint a big deal. None of this crap is a big deal. Ninety bucks on the line, I don't care. Probably spend twice that at the bar.

Dealing with customs deals with the federal sort, rather not have anything to do with it. Would you prefer to deal with authorities? Me, not a chance.

They were just headphones, nothing bizarre.

Yea, I can see now that he wanted UPS, but at the time it was not clear. If it was not clear to you good folks (even being tipped off), then I am in the majority.

I appreciate the advice and support.
