Bizarre ti4200 problems

I recenty bought an MSI 64meg Geforce 4 ti4200 card and am having some troubles with it.

First off, I enabled coolbits in the registry and overclocked it to 300/550, which it can do pretty easily. Unfortunately whenever I put my computer into sleep mode and then wake it, the core speed stays at 300 but the mem speed drops to 513, its default. I'm using the latest Nvidia 29.42 drivers, and while this isn't a serious problem, it is a pain in the ass to have to fix it in the display properties every time I wake the comp (which is generally at least a half-dozen times a day for me).

Another, possibly related problem is with the digital vibrance control. I usually set it to low, but when I lock the comp, or turn the screensaver on, or put it into sleep mode, the digital vibrance slider always goes back to 'none'. Does anyone know why this is and how to fix it? Do the new 30.30 beta drivers help?

I know these aren't serious problems, but they are annoying, and any help would be greatly appreciated. 🙂

You have to check the box which i think says, Apply Settings at start up...

If not,

Use power Strip, its much sweeter!!!!!!

I've already got both the coolbits and color correction display panels checked off with 'apply settings at startup'. When I boot up it sets the settings and all is fine. the core is at 300, mem is at 550, and digital vibrance is set to low. It's just that when I lock the desktop, or turn on the screensaver, or sometimes just play a game, that the digital vibrance simply turns itself off. Whgen I return to the desktop I have to go back and reset it. I have no idea why it won't stick.

The overclocking stays except when I hit the sleep button, and the comp goes into suspend. When I come out the mem is set at 513, rather than 550. This isn't as much of an issue for me since I don't put my comp into sleep mode often though.

As for powerstrip, I've tried prior versions of it. Does the latest version support digital vibrance in geforce 4's? If so I might have a go at it again. It's this issue that's annoying me more than the overlocking one. Even if its just a driver bug or something. I'm just curious why it's doing this.

Thanks a ton for any input.

With the 29.42 drivers this is what I have to do. First put the settings just like you like them and name them in the save as file. Next put the settings just like you like them while playing games and name it as something else. Before you go to play a game go to display settings and select the settings that you like with the apply at start up selection always checked off and hit apply before you play the game. After you're through with the game go back into display settings and select the other option that you have made for regular use. This is the only way I have been able to get this version of drivers to work correctly. A lot of games make these drivers automatically change display settings as do certain open gl screensavers which kind of acts like a game when activated. A hassle I know but if you don't want to use powerstrip this is the only way I can get it to work on certain setups. I hope this kind of makes sense to you.

Well, I just downloaded and installed Rivatuner 2.0 release 11, and found the setting to enable resetting the memory to 550 automatically after suspend, which solves one of my problems! thanks!

As for the digital vibrance, I set it in riva tuner but there's no option to reenable it, so as soon as I lock the computer, which I do often, it goes back to its default and I have to manually reneable it. I'm really not sure why this is. Seems like kind of a stupid way to design such a feature...
