I'll keep this simple. My computer completely freezes @ 1 of 2 steps in the bootup process.
1 - Right when the 1st BIOS screen appears. Nothing else is displayed or shown.
2 - RIGHT after the "verifying DMI process/update" screen blacks out (Right before the "Windows XP is loading" screen comes up.
If my pc loads up to the "Windows XP is loading" screen, then it's all good & my PC will load Windows fine, everything will work perfectly AFAIK. The thing is, it takes like 10+ tries to load Windows whenever I come from any type of bootup process (cold or warm). The PSU is not the issue. The DVD drive is not the issue. I've flashed the BIOS with the most recent version, the problems still persists. I'm can't seem to load up bootable CDROMs either... like Hiren's Boot CD or memtest86.
I think it's something to do with the BIOS or motherboard itself... possibly the processer (having trouble with real mode or something???). BTW, all of this stuff worked perfectly with Ubuntu 7.04... so maybe it is the NTLDR that is causing problems.
Here is a sisoft sandra report about my pc.
