Bizarre graphical glitch

So heres the deal, after my laptop (m285e tablet) has been on a while, I get an inverted pixel that follows my mouse cursor around. Sometimes its on the normal arrow, sometimes on the text cursor one, and sometimes on the window resizing one. For instance, right now its on the normal arrow. Its a single pixel (R,G, and B) that inverts whatever the color is supposed to be there. Its on the upper right on the cursor. If I change my mouse pointer from default to something else and then back, it goes away. But only for a while. I also can't seem to take a screenshot of it. The screenshot shows no abnormalities.

I'm not sure whether to call this a graphics problem, or an operating system thing. more inclined to say graphics. The laptop has an ATi x1400 graphics chip. 1280x768 pannel

the rest of the specs are as follows:
1.8GHz core 2
1GB memory
80Gig HDD
etc, etc..

It's probably not a problem with the display/LCD itself.

Sounds like a bug in the video driver or video software to me. Not sure what you can do about it though. Contact ATI? What OS do you run?

running MCE 2005 with update rollup2 and further updated to 5.1.2715.2941

the problem is that catalyst drivers for a mobile x1400 for MCE are difficult to find. This happened with the gateway drivers, which were said to be for windowsXP. and also with the ones im currently using which were a good 6 months newer, though i dont recall if they were specifically for MCE.

at ati's driver page they list, for XP, home/pro and MCE. but under MCE there is no choice for mobility radeon, or x1400. Under pro/home, mobility>x1400 is listed, unfortunately those drivers will not install. When running the installation verification software, it tells me that the software update cannot be installed. I assume this is due to the operating system difference.

ran driver sweeper when i noticed there were drivers on windows update for me, and have installed those. waiting to see if the pixel shows up again. so far so good.

still cant believe ati doesnt seem to offer a catalystmobility driver for MCE.

edit: just showed up again, darn!
