Bizarre Freecell problem

I occasionally play MS's Freecell. A few days ago when I started the game, only white outlines of the cells appeared. If I started a new game, the suits and markings appeared on white card outlines. I could move the mouse pointer over a card to select it, but when I moved the mouse pointer to another card where the selected card was to be moved, the mouse pointer disappeared at the edge of the second card.
I removed freecell.exe and cards.dll and reinstalled them from the MS CD -- but the problem remains. Clearly some file that Freecell uses to display card faces, mouse pointers superimposed on the card faces and scores etc. has been lost -- but the program doesn't know it and is running without these functions. Does anyone know what file I should install to make Freecell work?
Thanks

It could be that, or maybe it's just a problem with your video drivers. I doubt an bug like that would be caught as Freecell isn't really tested when they work on new drivers. Could be wrong, just a thought.
