Sometimes bizarre files show up on my computer. Especially after a crash, an icon will change to that generic Windows icon. I don't think the file is actually corrupted, but maybe has had its extension altered, or something like that.
So I right click and select "Open With,' but almost always that doesn't do anything. I continue to randomly try different programs to use, but the screen just shows gibberish.
Is there any way to find out what program I SHOULD use to open an unknown file type?
What I wonder is if there's some way to have the 'Open With' command make a RECOMMENDATION of which program to use from the list of programs shown.
Any ideas?
