Bizarre Display/Mouse Behavior

Hi folks,

I'm writing with a particularly strange problem that I'm having with a new build. I got the machine up and running yesterday and spent much of the day painstakingly installing drivers. Once I was finished, I noticed that my mouse -- a cheaphttp://www.tomshardware.com/forum/313677-33-bizarre-display-mouse-behavior# Microsoft wireless USB type -- was behaving strangely.

At first, the cursor seemed to be moving choppily and was generally unresponsive in both movement and clicking. However, when I payed closer attention, I noticed that it moved seamlessly when it was on the left side of the display and became increasingly choppy/unresponsive as a moved to the right side. These effects seem to be magnified when the machine is under a significant load (startup, gaming, etc.). However, the timing of when this occurs seems to be random, or perhaps periodic irrespective of what I'm doing. Clicking is consistently unresponsive -- it seems like 50% of the clicks I make go unregistered -- but the movement issue comes and goes as described.

I've never heard of an issue like this and I'm at a loss of what to do. All of my drivers are current, and the hardware doesn't seem to detect any issues. I've tried using different VGA ports and I've plugged the mouse into a variety of USB ports, but these have not made an obvious difference in performance. Has anyone seen something like this before? Suggestions?

My hardware:

Motherboard: Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 2x4GB DDR3 1600
Graphics: Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 1GB GDDR5
Power: Corsair CMPSU 650-TX 650W
Case: Antec 900
Monitor: ASUS VH238H
Mouse: Microsoft Wireless Notebook 3000

Change the mouse
This is exactly what I was thinking.

I have a Logitech MX Revolution that for the life of me, I couldn't figure out why the connection seemed to be inconsistent (stop moving on screen, clicks wouldn't work). It was due to 2 reasons: WiFi that was active was the same frequency range that the MX uses for bandwidth (2.4ghz) and also the fact that my desk is metal. The metal keyboard tray and frame blocked the signal from 3 feet below where my wireless receiver for the mouse was plugged in.
