Bizarre bug in XP?

I want to hover my cursor over the clock so that it reveals the date.

If I put the cursor on the upper edge of the taskbar above the clock digits....the date appears just above the taskbar, and it's easily read. But if I put the cursor directly over the digits (middle of taskbar)...the date appears beneath the taskbar...and I can't make it out.

Also in the first scenario if I have window open down to the taskbar...the date appears underneath the window.

I somehow don't remember running into this much trouble before. Is there a bug or is it me?

You're not crazy. I've heard of this happening before. I don't remember whether or not there was a fix for it but at least you're not alone.

After several hours of messin around I couldn't find a fix.

But I did a restore one week back and all is fine now.

Not sure what happened in the last week that may have caused it.

EDIT: Well fixed good enough anyways. When I put the cursor over most of the digits (not the bottom edge) the date appears correctly. But when I put the cursor over the bottom edge of the digits.....the date appears just partially underneath the taskbar.

I have had this happen, albeit rarely.

All it takes is a reload of explorer and it fixes itself. That restore was completely uneccesary. I have had this problem appear in all versions of Windows, albeit very rarely and usually after Explorer has crashed once, and I kept on chugging away.
