BitTorrent to become paid subscirption service???

Depending on the cost and how crippling the DRM they saddle it with is, I would consider a paid BT service.

If the studios offer up streaming 720p/1080p content over bittorrent, I would gladly pay for the faster, legal distribution method. High def is where its at, otherwise just rent the movie. If I had a Tivo, I think my bittorrent use would be cut by 95% (still have to download Top Gear from the UK!)

"BitTorrent's search engine also points to obviously pirated content, such as copies of the new Steven Spielberg blockbuster ``War of the Worlds,'' available with Danish subtitles from a Swedish site called thepiratebay.org."

interesting they could print that so bluntly

Yeah, I'd definitely pay for HD TV shows/movies from BT.

like it's been said, wouldnt matter...i'm a loyal follower of Jason Bay of a certain Pittsburgh baseball team.

Sort of defeats the entire purpose to pay to use BT, BT was supposed to combat pay services by offering a viable way to transfer files across the internet without overloading one sites bandwidth. If I'm going to pay a subscription service, it better be like fileplanet where I expect to be able to get in and get the movie I want at the fastest speed my line can handle.

The movie industry should consider this. Properly done rips with subtitles that were legal to own would be worth paying a buck or two for but knowing Hollywood they will want $5.95 per download and only offer up stuff that is already several years old.

Hollywood was against video rentals back in the day and now rentals are the most lucrative part of selling a movie.
