trying to get my bittorrent client working properly, the DHT light stays yellow and says there may be a problem. I have a D-Link 624 wireless router. I read a few guides online that talked about port forwarding, so I set up virtual ports for thr range 6881-6889 and it's still showing yellow for the DHT, what am I doing wrong? I can't seed out things properly and this is pissing me off.

Its probably just an issue in port forwarding setup. I don't have anything on hand, but I'm sure somebody else has a link on how to setup port forwarding on DLINK routers. I'll try to find something if nobody posts anything.

It is also possible that your ISP blocks those ports - or the torrents you are using specifically don't use those ports because they are the default ones.

Try setting up your torrent client to use port 39492 (or something else random) and open that for both TCP and UDP on your router. You only need to open one port for torrents - you don't need a range. Make sure the IP you are forwarding to in the router setup is the same as the one you are running the client on.

You can use this to test if the port is open - replace the %%% with your port.

I suggest using utorrent client as well.

thanks for the reply, I've read the guide on portforward.com, I think something else is causing it, any port I open and check says it's stealth. I will try utorrent and see if that helps. port forwarding is simply so that's why I'm guessing there's something up with my router.
