Here's my situation.

I want to be able to share large files with my friend who live 3,000 miles away.

I've created a .torrent file for him to use. I've used the built in tracker in the software which just uses my IP address and port and so on.

I've also created a trackerless .torrent file which uses the DHT option.

We both have the same client running and all but when he connects to me using either of the created torrent files he can only grab 20megs then it stops!

We've also tried setting up a http file server through some free software we have and it does something similar but stops at around 1meg.

My conclusion is this would be a windows issue?

Is windows stopping me from doing this? We both use XP PRO with SP2 and all updates to date.

Any help would be great!

Likely a firewall/network issue. I used to run an FTP called Bulletproof and people were able to connect but they'd only be able to download portions of files and then the transmission speed just drops off to near 0 so they can never finish. After some investigation it seems to be something to do with my firewall. When the firewall was out of the picture everything worked fine. I even went as far as downgrading the firmware on this router and found a verison where it works

Hmmm interesting.

We both use a software firewall which we both disabled (turned off).

But we are also both using routers.

All correct ports and stuff are open but I wonder if this could be part of it?

Cool.

This is definetly worth a try.

Do you have any direct experience with using this?

This is a no go it seems.

Installed it and configured it and everything.
Everytime it runs it reboots my computer!

Forget that...
