Bittorrent disconnects me a lot

I use bittorrent a lot, but it disconnects me a lot from yahoo messenger for some reason, which is annoying. I'd like to find out why and stop it. I get disconnected like once every 2 minutes, only if bittorrent is on. Not sure why it'd do that. I'm pretty sure it doesn't disconnect my whole internet (like browsing in firefox and such), only disconnects yahoo messenger, which i use through Trillian. Anyone wanna take a guess?

Upon further review, bittorrent does seem to disconnect me from the internet multiple times per 20 minutes or so. Why would it disconnect me? It doesn't like me?

As you can see by the time logs, there is a pattern there. Not sure if that helps at all, i still can't figure it out.

Some routers/configurations are overwhelmed by torrents.

That's a possibility, but does that explain the time pattern at all?

Set your max upload speed to less than 80% of your actual upload speed capability; same with download.

It could be that you've reached the limit for the numbers of concurrent connections to your computer. I know with SP2, MS limits the numbers of TCP connections to reduce the threat of malicious attacks. Maybe that's why your IM is disconnecting when you have bittorrent on.
