every time i use bittorrent now, no matter what the ports, after a short or long while it freezes up. if i use it without any other internet programs (aim/mirc/firefox), it will take longer to freeze, or if i open an internet program during this time it will freeze instantly. when it freezes, it freezes all internet related programs and cuts off the internet connection, making it so i have to restart to use the internet

i left it overnight a few days ago, and in the morning (after a freeze presumably) it was bluescreened, telling me there was a problem with afd.sys
 
Are you using BitTornado? If so try Azureus (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/) instead. Apparently that solved the problem for one user off a translated German page.

Have you tried using other BitTorrent clients? Try looking up the stop code, as it may be Windows related as opposed to BitTorrent client related.
