BitTorrent client question...

Im using the standard BitTorrent client and in the "Seeds" and "Peers" column is two numbers with one in parens. Like this 1(23). What is the meaning behind this. I have looked for an answer and found nothing. Now i turn to the wisdom of AT.

The first number is how many seeds or peers you're connected to. The larger second number in parentheses is the total number of seeds or peers currently in the torrent.
