only reason i'd need it is if my dvd player is like over 2 years old or something? that's the only reason right? if so, i'm going the way of pioneer :).

The Pioneer DRV-108 auto sets the bitsetting when you burn a DVD9 disc. Doesn't do it for DVD5 discs though. If you are looking for compatiblity, DVD-R are pretty dang compatible with most set top DVD players.

my sony 530d was bought atleast 3 yrs ago... plays all my cheap dvd-r fine, no bit set.
