Bitlocker?

Edit- Bitlocker!

I was reading this crap, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc766295(v=ws.10).aspx#BKMK_require

And saw that it said I needed two partitions? I'm using Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit and also was wondering if I have TPM. Mother board is a Gigabyte 965P-DS3.

Do you need a Windows password to use Bitlocker? I would like to encrypt both the SSD main drive and the HDD secondary drive.

Edit- Just noticed that Bitlocker will only encrypt the main drive. Maybe I'll just use Truecrypt. How would that work for encrypting two drives?

I'm confused by the thread title...Cryptolocker is bad bad bad.
Hehehe, me too. Saw the title and a Microsoft link and thought there was going to be griping about how Security Essentials misses the trojan that delivers the CL payload when about 95% of real-time scanners miss it as well 😀

But I'm the wrong person to ask about BitLocker, it is only really suitable for laptops in case of theft. Otherwise I hate it with a passion.

In some mobos, they require an administrator p/w on the BIOS to enable encryption. Further, in HP systems embedded TPM system option must be enabled as well, dunno about others but I redeployed Windows 8.1 Enterprise on a bunch of laptops for a company that wanted the encryption. If you have to run a repair installation and have a hard time getting onto the server or the key is missing, get ready for some headaches.

You should have no problem encrypting your additional drives, and your system probably has the necessary partitioning on your boot drive already. It doesn't look like your motherboard has a TPM or even a place to plug one in, so you'll need to change a Group Policy setting that lets you use a USB key as your startup token.

So start Group Policy Editor as described in "Scenario 3," but the setting you want on Win7 Ultimate is Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Bitlocker Drive Encryption > Operating System Drive > Require additional authentication at startup and you need to set that so you don't have to have a TPM.

I only have one partition on C drive.

How do I encrypt the second hard drive? When I select Bitlocker it only says the main drive.

If you go into Computer and right-click the other hard drive, there should be a Turn on Bitlocker option on its right-click menu.

To view all the partitions on your main hard drive, try Disk Management (right-click Computer, choose Manage from the menu, and go down to Storage > Disk Management. My Win7 Ultimate 64-bit system has two (System Reserved and the C: partition).
