Bite-sized Madden coming from EA?

Joystiq - Hey remember the 3-on-3 NHL Arcade game on XBLA and PSN from EA. Now they are going to do something similar with EA. I'll be interested to see how this could turn out and whether or not they can do a better job with this than the NHL Arcade game.

EA's 3-on-3 NHL Arcade, a smaller and more focused downloadable hockey title, seems to have been a successful experiment for the publisher. In a recent investor call, EA's Peter Moore confirmed that a similar title, this time with the Madden franchise as basis, is currently in development. Though little other information was divulged, we're told to expect title sometime "this holiday."

The NHL arcade game was amazingly fun in local multiplayer. Moreso than the regular NHL, for sure.
Harkens back to the Hitz 2003 days, 3 on 3 hockey games are where the real fun is at.
NBA Jam and NHL Hitz/EA 3on3 are the right way to do arcade games. Not sure if Madden will turn out the same if games like Blitz/Street are any indication, football just isn't as fun I guess.

Honestly, I just wished they released a game like NFL Blitz 2000 again. I wasted so much money on that game at the arcade, and is one of my favorite nfl games of all time (although, it hasn't aged particularly well).
