Bitdefender keeps shutting down?

I've noticed when i'm in a game and come back, the Bitdefender icon will be gone off my taskbar and the process is no longer running in task manager. There is never any notification of a program crashing or anything though, its like its just shutting down. Any idea what this could be?

It's reasonable to assume that it has crashed. Anything suggestive in the event viewer > windows logs > application log?

The windows reliability monitor might show the app crashes as well.

- edit - assuming that you don't have that option enabled to auto hide systray icons.

Make sure you indicate what product your using.

Persoanlly never use an anti-virus on my gaming computer. Rely on Sandboxie, NoScript and scan downloads at Totalvirus.

I googled bitdefender icon dissapeared and it seems to be a common thing

i uninstalled it for now, might try a different program

anybody tried Panda's free AV?

Was this with Bitdefender Free? If not give that a shot. I'm curious. But I wouldn't leave the anti-virus on while gaming. Though I have read that Bitdefender messes around with debugging. So if you use certain game mods or hacks it will likely cause them to fail. This is primary why I don't run an anti-virus on my gaming computer.

In fact, if I only had my desktop I would use VMware to surf the Internet. I use my laptop mostly for Internet and the desktop for gaming.
