bitcomet on direct dsl connection, no router.. very slow?

hello, i've been on dsl for about 4-5 years now, and i'm having some real issues just today. i've just setup my modem directly onto my computer, instead of through the router, and i just recently noticed that my connections times have significantly decreased and can no longer get any remote connections? are there any specific settings i should be changing? i've been searching for a few hours now to no avail..

i don't have xp firewall installed, or anything similar which is what is puzzling me... >.<

Could be your isp throttling bittorrent. It's been known to happen.

Have you ever tweaked your MTU settings? What speeds are you getting when you run speed test?

i've checked my bandwidth speed tests.. i'm hitting about 4.8kbps

Upload or download? go here and click on smart test and post the results. THen do the upload test.

He shouldnt be getting 4.8kbps on DSL. Mother of god.

i shouldn't be getting 4.8mbps? i'm on a 5mbps connection.. why wouldn't i reach 4.8mbps exactly.. lol..

And when you put the router back in the picture? Sounds like a setting it off or else you are filtering your own signal.
