Is that kilobits or kiloBytes per second?

What is your bandwidth, both up and down? How much of your upstream bandwidth are you using for the torrent?

Have you forwarded the proper ports on your firewall / router?

It sounds like you may be limiting your upload too much. I can't be too sure about this and it's a sort of reach, but in muTorrent, if you limit the upload too much, it will start to automatically lower your download. For example, if I'm 5k/s upload, it will limit me to 30k/s download. If I set it to 6k/s upload, I can go as high as I want.

I haven't used BitComet in a long time, so I can't be entirely sure. I can tell you that if you don't mind switching clients... muTorrent (also called uTorrent) may be a nicer client for you to use. Personally, I run it on my server and use the WebUI to handle everything as I can add the torrent from my main PC and watch the progress like a web-based client :D.

Try a different client - e.g. muTorrent or Azureus.

However, many ISPs now limit bit torrent traffic to about 50 or 100 kB/s regardless of your connection speed or download limit. This 'traffic shaping' is becoming more and more common, as ISPs try and claim 'unlimited bandwidth' (by slowing down torrents, they reduce the impact big downloaders have on other customers).

One option is to activate 'encryption' in your bit torrent client (don't know if bit comet does this, but muTorrent and Azzy do). Encryption will prevent your ISPs systems from recognising your downloads as bit torrent traffic, and so they by pass the limiter. However, router manufacturers are now introducing routers that can detect encrypted torrents, and apply the same limits.

Just a notice, avoid using Azureus with a Linksys Router if you own one. I thought I may've been alone, but I ran into someone yesterday who had the same problem I did. If you run Azureus with a Linksys router, your connection will "crash" ever so often as the router will not release the uPNP mappings. By not releasing the mappings, the router becomes congested and ends up resetting itself.

Switching to a different client (muTorrent) fixed this for me and for the other person.

I've just reinstalled Bitcomet 0.70 and the speed is back to normal around 900kb/s

i wonder where is limiting the speed.
