Popescu was reportedly “swept away by the current and died on the spot.”

His death has since been confirmed by three women who were reportedly known to be close to him, though others have raised questions over whether he’s actually dead.

Article doesnt mention finding the body.
i think he pulled a DB Cooper

So we can assume at this point in time that he is not really dead, but hiding somewhere to cash-in his $$$ in bitcoins.
What would be gained by doing a faked death?

"died"

Reminds me of QuadrigaCX. Owner of the exchange fakes his death and ran with everyone's money.

lol.. she duped a multi-level marketing (MLM) kingpin into her most successful salesperson.
he told his downline (people who were under him) to sell her OneCoin.

He was making $1M/month from the commissions from all downline.
and he used some of the $ to buy more OneCoin.

basically, he fell for a ponzi scheme and was responsible for his entire downline losing $.
oh the irony... lol

You would think someone in central control of that much wealth would have a "dead man switch" that would set things in motion if he didn't check in.

Anytime I see a story about some rich person has died...but no body was found, I automatically assume they've done a run er with the money...or done a runner because the cops were closing in.
