In a reply, how much data have you moved through the web in your lifetime just personally, not counting work, using any/all protocols.

I would guess that since 1995-Present, I've probably moved on the order of 10TB if you add up every protocol.

Not sure but it's probably in the 10TB range as well. Almost all of that is TV. I also seed all of my downloads to 1:1 share ratio if possible as I mainly use a credit based site.

Well from this install...

Torrents are still alive? Haven't used them in years, were worthless half the time back then. No seeds, getting like 30kb/s down with a 5mbps connection. Screw that.

Http gets my max 30mbps 24/7.

Lawsuits and such make me wary of torrents anymore. And with other, possibly better options out there, I really don't see any reason to keep using them.

torrents are for noobs.

Usenet FTW. Probably up to 3 TB's just in the past year. Lifetime? 10+ TB's I would guess.

They are still good for niche markets though. For example I just about exclusively download TV and I use a dedicated TV only tracker that has thousands of shows that are very hard to get any other way. Also if you stick to this kind of thing it's not so much a legal problem.

I use torrents for everything possible. They're fast, and it distributes the bandwidth burden amongst interested parties.

10+tb easy. The site I use for mainly everything has huge freeleech packs, and always maxes out my connection. Love it.

I use torrents a lot less than i used to. A very lot less in fact. I download ~500mb a week of torrents. Rarely use it otherwise. Lifetime is hard to say for sure but definitely 1.5TB+. I used to seed soccer matches for long periods of time. Easy to do 50-100GB per a match. i only did maybe 10 matches though. Then i use a private site that is niche specific and stuff i cant find on usenet. But thats something i generally only use during like October-december (certain sport shall we say lol).

In ~2 years with usenet i've done 2.5TB. least thats what alt.binz tells me. might be a bit higher but not sure, cant remember if i've reinstalled without saving the stats previously or not

3TB this uT install, which I'd estimate to be ~1/3 of just my torrent activity alone. Add in normal internet activity and probably 15TB or more over the last 6-8 years

Very little (<50gb), I've always used IRC and usenet.

Unless you count WoW's built in torrent for the patches.
